Overwatch: detailed information about the competitive mode

Overwatch Tracer

The competitive mode of Overwatch has already landed in PC to kick off the first season, although we have to wait a little more to show on next generation consoles. For starters, competitive of Overwatch mode will be divided into four seasons, one for each season of the year, with a duration of two months and a half each season. We see more competitive retail.

Index of ability

The minimum requirement to participate in competitive games is to reach level 25, with the intention that the brave players facing the charted already have idea how works Overwatch and a few heroes of 21 that are available at the moment have tried at least.

Once we get to level 25 will not be issue start playing competitive without more, so first we need to get our level in the index of ability. To do this, we will have to play 10 games of positioning with our team, where we will receive a score from 1 to 100 depending on our ability.

Before you begin each game we can see the index of each player’s skill, and obviously if we win the competitive mode game our score will increase, but if we lose the game, it will decrease. All this according to various factors, such as performance in the game and the ability of the other players.

Game modes

As Blizzard has announced on their official website, the game modes that we now have available in Overwatch receive some adjustments to conform to the competitive mode, but the core remains the same. Here are the details of the changes:

  • Control maps: are the maps of Ilios, Tower Lijiang and Nepal, in which we have to capture the area rather than the opposing team. In competitive mode games be played to the best of 5, so the team that comes to 3-point wins.

  • Maps of escort and hybrids: are the maps of El Dorado, route 66, Observatory: Gibraltar, Hollywood, King completo Row and Numbani *, in we have to take a point to remove load, and escort it by multiple control points to the destination. In competitive mode, the two teams will have a round of attack and defense, which will add points. The team that has the most points after two rounds will take the victory. In the event of a tie or failure to reach the first point, there will be sudden death.

  • Assault maps: are the maps of Hanamura, Temple of Anubis and industries Volskaya, which take two different points before the time runs out. In competitive mode, each team will play a round of attack to get points, earning the team carried more points. If the first team not take any point but in the next round the opposing team gets a point, the latter will win the game. In the event of a tie, each team will have a round of attack. If the tie persists, it will play sudden death.

  • Sudden death: be chosen randomly to a team for the attack and the other for the defense, after which it will play a split ‘fast’. The attackers will have to capture the point before the timer runs out to win, but if they fail to do so, the victory will be for the team to defend.

Rewards

As you might expect, the competitive mode will have new rewards special, beginning by graffiti and player icon special to complete ten headings to position itself on the skill index. The designs will change every season. On the other hand, with each game won us points of competitive mode, which can be exchanged for Golden weapons for each character at the end of the season.

In addition, Blizzard will soon activate Overwatch set of markers to show the community the 500 best players in each game platform. Each season statistics, will be restarted so we will have to climb in the rankings to reach those precious posts. If we lose games, logically, we go down in the rankings and will lose the player top credential.

Finally, Blizzard has stressed the importance of acting properly in games, notably the appearance not to leave the game if things are coming out crooked. If we leave the game or remain inactive repeatedly we increasingly harsh penalties, to the point of “banned” for the rest of the season if that behavior persists. With this and a cake to Valhalla!
